Study modes at a glance
Which mode to use when: Flashcards, Learn, Test, Match, Crossword, and how mastery is tracked across all of them.
Open any set and choose a mode from the study bar. Progress is per set and per person, and it syncs between web and mobile, so you can start a Learn round on your laptop and finish it on the bus.

| Match | Speed and a bit of competition | Match terms to definitions against the clock, with a leaderboard per set |
| Crossword | A change of pace | A puzzle built from up to eight of the set's terms |
Mastery
Each term carries a mastery level: new, learning, familiar, mastered, or needs review. Learn moves a term up one step per correct answer and down on a miss; a correct written answer or a self-graded flashcard jumps straight to mastered. The set page shows the split, and Cleva and connected agents read the same numbers.
Study starred only
Star terms while you study and switch on Study starred only in Flashcards, Learn or Match to drill just those. Match runs on a starred subset do not count for the leaderboard.
