Course sync and import modes

What happens after a file arrives from your course site: where it is filed, whether you are told, and whether a set is created.

Every synced file is filed into the class library under a topic, matched from the course section it was in, the module title, and keywords. What happens next depends on the import mode you choose under When new files arrive on the Integrations page.

ModeWhat happens
Add materials onlyFiles wait on the topic page until you decide to make a set.
Add materials and notify meSame, plus an inbox item per class telling you what landed where.
Automatically create or update a study setOne set per topic. New files top it up and mark it stale; you choose when to regenerate.

Fixing a misfiled file

Open the class, find the file under its current topic or under Unclassified, and choose a different topic. The classifier learns nothing from this, so a course with unusual section names may need a few of these at the start of term.

Coursework and deadlines

Quizzes and assignments on Moodle are never downloaded. They are reported as coursework so their due dates appear in the class and on Home. With the extension, the Due soon list lets you add them to the syllabus with one click.

What sync never does

  • Write anything back to your course site.
  • Download graded work, grades or other students' submissions.
  • Share your files with anyone. Class libraries are visible to that class only.
