Topics and course material
How the class library organizes files by topic, where imported files go, and how to turn material into sets.
Every class has a library of course material: PDFs, slides, documents, pages and links. Files are filed under topics, which usually come from the syllabus weekly plan but can also be created and renamed by hand on the class Home.
Where files come from
- You upload them on the class page or while creating a set.
- Course sync pulls them from Moodle or Canvas. Files are classified by the course section, the module title and keywords, so a file from the Week 4 section lands in the Week 4 topic. See Course sync and import modes.
- The browser extension imports files, folders, pages and links from a Moodle course page and lets you pick the topic per item.
Scopes
| Scope | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Topic | Filed under a specific week or chapter |
| Course | Applies to the whole class, like the syllabus or a formula sheet |
| Unclassified | Could not be matched yet. Re-file it from the topic page |
From material to a study set
On a topic page, select the files and choose to create a set, or open Create and pick from the class library. Sets get a copy of the material, so editing a set never changes the class library. If course sync is set to create sets automatically, you get one set per topic that is marked stale when new files arrive, and you decide when to regenerate.
YouTube and web pages
A YouTube link can be added as material and used as a source for flashcards and notes. Web pages captured with the extension are saved as notes in a private Web captures set for the class.
